Green Infrastructure Design

This morning course is aimed at architects, landscape architects, ecologists and any environmental professionals who may want to learn more about the design and application of green infrastructure. The course will run at the Broadgate Welcome Centre, a 5 minute walk from London Liverpool Street, and will include a visit to a biodiverse living roof as well as other good practice examples of urban GI.

 Learning outcomes include:

  • Policy framework and other drivers which can be used to help secure GI delivery;
  • Forms and functions of differing GI features;
  • How to design and specify GI;
  • An introduction to measuring change in biodiversity value as part of GI delivery, with an insight into industry trends.

The first part of the session will cover the theory and explore case studies of good practice GI. The remainder will be held on a site visit outside in the City of London. Training will be provided by Morgan Taylor (MSci, MCIEEM, CEnv), who leads the ecology team at Greengage and specialises in urban biodiversity.

No previous experience or knowledge of GI is required.
