Ella Gibbs: Award Nominee

08 Jul 2024

Our very own Ella Gibbs, Senior Ecological Consultant at Place Services, has been nominated for the Bat Conservation Trust's (BCT) prestigious Pete Guest Award 2024.

The Award is given in memory of Pete Guest, an inspirational figure in bat conservation. The nominees, put forward by their peers, are people who have made an outstanding practical contribution to bat conservation.

The criteria for the award includes dedication, innovation, enthusiasm and inspiration in making a difference, both to bats and to people, helping make BCT's vision become a reality.

Ella's work at Norsey Wood gained her a nomination from the Norsey Wood Society.  After giving a talk to the Society in 2023 Ella has become their primary advisor and without her support, they would not have been able to survey or develop their ongoing conservation projects, which have identified several species of bats, including Myotis sp., Noctule, Serotine/Leisler's, Soprano and Common Pipistrelles and rare Barbestelle bats.

If that's not enough to seal the deal, Ella also rehabilitated injured bats and mentors fellow Essex Bat Group members.

We're rooting for you Ella!
