Place Services has recently produced pioneering new Biodiversity Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) on behalf of the Essex Minerals and Waste Planning Authority. It was a truly collaborative approach working closely with Essex County Council spatial planners as well as a range of partners from the minerals industry, government agencies and environmental NGOs. The SPG will help support the creation of over 200 hectares of wildlife-rich habitat within newly restored quarries as part of the Essex Minerals Local Plan.
The document has already been recognised by the Nature after Minerals programme as 'setting the standard for mineral planning best-practice.'
