The London Borough of Hackney has awarded a contract to Place Services to conduct tree surveys across the borough in order to establish the health and condition of the Council’s Highways, Parks and Housing trees. The project will include compiling an inventory of the tree stock owned and maintained by the borough to enable the manipulation of data using both client software and GIS information. The aim of the project is to facilitate a greater understanding of the green infrastructure resource present in Hackney in order allocate funding to areas with the greatest need, protect and enhance the natural environment and be able to utilise trees to their full potential.
“I am very happy for the team and am thrilled to have been selected from over 40 applicants to work with the London Borough of Hackney on this project. We look forward to enabling Hackney to have a detailed understanding of the condition and distribution of their existing tree population for the first time.” – Dominic Poston, Senior arboricultural consultant.
The contract will be delivered by the Place Services Arboricultural Team who will work closely with the client to achieve success in forward planning for development, climate change and tree health within urban inner London boroughs.
The contract duration will be for an initial term of one year with a further option of a one year extension.
