Nicolas joined Place Services as a Built Heritage Consultant in 2016 and has extensive experience of providing planning and listed building advice to a number of our local authority clients including Braintree District Council, Thurrock Borough Council and the London Borough of Havering. Nicolas has an MA in Conservation Studies (Historic Buildings) from the University of York and a degree in Architecture from The University of Liverpool.

During his time at Place Services Nicolas has written numerous Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans for local authority clients including Thurrock Borough Council and the London Borough of Havering. He also has considerable knowledge of developing robust Local Heritage Lists, providing Written Representations for Planning Appeals, surveying Heritage at Risk (Building and Conservation Areas) as well as hosting Traditional Building Skills courses.

Whilst at Place Services, Nicolas has developed a particular interest in managing Heritage at Risk, maintaining and updating Local Heritage Lists and valorising Twentieth Century Architecture as well as engaging with local and national amenity societies.
