Oliver Tong


Oliver is an Arboriculturist with over 16 years’ experience. He is a technician member of the Arboricultural Association and an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters. He holds a National Diploma in Arboriculture from Merrist Wood College, Surrey and the Lantra Award for Professional Tree Inspection.


Oliver is currently an Arboricultural Consultant with Place Services, forming part of a large multi-disciplinary team. He has a broad and varied experience of both public and private sectors of the industry, including: tree nursery production/sales; residential/commercial tree care; local authority tree management; advice to planners and Arboricultural consultancy.


Working as a Local Authority Tree Officer for the London Borough of Haringey for 7 years, Oliver has been directly involved in the management of large stocks of trees in a variety of locations, including: highways; housing sites; parks/open spaces; woodlands/conservation sites; and schools.


Oliver is experienced in the provision of advice and comments in relation to: applications for works to protected trees; new development proposals; planning committee/appeal hearings and the provision of advice in relation to tree related insurance and subsidence claims.
Oliver has a detailed knowledge of tree physiology and is a practiced surveyor, able to produce clear and concise reports on a variety of tree related issues, including: tree condition; hazard assessment; tree root damage/subsidence; and BS 5837: 2012 - Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction recommendations.
An effective communicator, Oliver is able to establish and maintain co-operative and harmonious working relationships with: colleagues; elected members; key stakeholders; members of public and partners/clients.


Professional development is kept current through the membership of various industry bodies and the regular attendance at seminars, conferences and training courses. References and further details are available upon request.
