Sally Gale


Sally has been with Essex County Council since 1993, from 1993 - 1996 as an excavator for the Essex County Council Field Unit and from 1996 - 2012 as a member of the SMR/HER team. She has particular expertise in the HBSMR database and GIS with responsibility for updating our own UEP website and our information on the Heritage Gateway website. Since 2012 she has worked on Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) and Sustainability Appraisals (SA).

She has spoken to school groups and local societies about archaeology and has run activities at events such as National Archaeology Day and our local History Fair. She is a member of the Essex Society for Archaeology and History (ESAH) and was their Newsletter Editor for over 10 years. She is involved in the development and updating of the ESAH Essex Placenames Project and this brings her into contact with volunteers throughout the County and beyond.
