Place Services to study London archaeology from the air

23 Nov 2015

Historic England has commissioned Place Services to assess aerial photographic evidence for archaeological sites in the area of Bromley and Croydon Boroughs. The project will be the first major assessment of the aerial photographic potential within Greater London. It has long been recognised that aerial photographs are a primary source of archaeological data, and as development pressure grows within the capital it has become essential to assess the potential of the extensive aerial photographic archive for the area to enable better strategic planning. The assessment will identify, evaluate and highlight the archaeological evidence so it can directly inform the planning proecess, and help to define Archaeological Priority Areas.
