We took to the high seas on our annual team awayday on Monday, 30th September, sailing on the last seagoing Paddle Steamer - the Waverley (Waverley Excursions Limited). The day was educational as well as fun! We set sail from Southend Pier, heading out to sea battling the elements (which added to the fun!) to view the amazing Thames Sea Forts of Knock John, Shivering Sands and Red Sands - learning all about their history and the part they played in defending the UK as we sailed towards them.
It wasn't all high jinx on the sea tho' we spent the morning meeting our colleagues old and new, and hearing about what each team is working on and what's coming up in the next 12 months. It was excellent to hear from all the teams, and great to catch up with colleagues old and new.
We were well looked after on the day by the Beecroft Art Gallery in the morning, and provided with a delicious packed lunch by The Laughing Pear Catering, and of course topping off the day with a sail on wonderful Waverley.
