Place Services’ Historic Environment and Natural Environment experts successfully supported Uttlesford District Council in the dismissal of a planning appeal for a development on land off Station Road in Flitch Green. The proposed development was for the creation of up to 240 dwellings with public space and vehicular access from Station Road.
During the inquiry, Place Services’ Historic Environment Manager, Tim Murphy, argued that there would be a significant impact on the character of the area. There would also be harm to three designated heritage assets within the vicinity of development site – the Grade II listed Bouchiers, the Grade II listed Felsted School and Felsted Conservation Area.
The Inspectorate concluded that the adverse impacts of the proposed development “would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits” and the appeal was dismissed.
