Essex has one of the longest coastlines in the country, and a great heritage of seaside resorts, which played a central role in the development of tourism in the county. The Seaside Heritage project analysed the life-cycle and resultant character of coastal resorts in Essex, producing characterisation reports that are being used to inform planning decisions, and strategies for the coast, and coastal tourism.
