Florence has valuable experience with utilising digital technologies to better understand, assess and manage the historic environment.
She studied Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Southampton, finishing in 2023 at the top of her cohort with a dissertation on AI-assisted mapping of Iron Age hillforts. Then, she worked with ArchAI to extract ecological information from historic OS mapping using deep learning, for the benefit of rewilding projects.
Following this, she worked with Oxford Archaeology to gain hands-on experience with archaeology on the field, excavating across the South East. Meanwhile, she also completed a part-time MSc at the University of Oxford with a distinction and graduated in 2026. Her dissertation was about the automatic mapping of linear earthworks from LiDAR imagery.
