Richard Broadhead


Richard is an historic buildings specialist with experience offering specialist advice to a varied range of clients. He has worked extensively with Braintree and Rochford district councils, offering professional advice on planning and listed building consent applications and well as other areas of the planning process, including pre-application advice and acting as an expert witness at a public inquiry. He has also offered similar advice to a number of other local planning authorities both inside and outside Essex, as well as offering internal advice to Essex County Council.

Whilst working for Place Services he has also been involved in other projects, which include carrying out baseline assessments to support the preparation of local plans in both Essex and Suffolk, the preparation of a local list of heritage assets for a local planning authority and an assessment of vulnerable conservation areas, commissioned by Historic England. Before joining Place Services he has experience working for Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and for the Historic Chapels Trust, a charity who take into ownership redundant non-Anglican places of worship to ensure their ongoing maintenance and positive reuse.
