Following a review of the Maldon Conservation Area, which outlined the importance of views into the town, Natural England commissioned Place Services to convert Greater London Sites and Monuments Records into the SHINE (Selected Heritage Inventory for Natural England)
Key viewpoints, and views into the town were defined, and panoramic skyline photographs taken, to enable the size, scale and aesthetics of future developments, and their impact on the town's historic skyline, to be considered. Each view was assessed, including comparison with historic images, and buildings that make a positive or negative contribution to the significance of the Conservation Area were identified to inform future decision making.
