Megan joined Place Services in January 2018 as a Junior Historic Environment Consultant. She completed her MA degree in Landscape History at the University of East Anglia, where she specialised in post-medieval East Anglian landscapes and GIS. Prior to her current role Megan worked at The English Listed Building Company as a Heritage Research Assistant, undertaking desk based and archival research and site visits, and NPS Property Consultants Ltd in the bids team.
At Place Services Megan has gained key experience in the practice of landscape history, delivering a variety of project work for public and private sector clients to provide informed historic landscape advice and assessments. She has key experience in: compiling character area assessments, conservation area appraisals, heritage statements, building recording, and desk based assessments. Megan is currently producing a Heritage Strategy for Tendring District Council, and is working alongside the Essex Gardens Trust to train and support a team of volunteers in the production of the Colchester Garden Inventory.
Megan coordinates Place Services’ Traditional Building Skills course syllabus, administering the courses and hosting events, and is a committee member of CIfA’s Buildings Archaeology Group. She has recently started a distance learning MA in Heritage Interpretation with the University of Leicester.
