Melissa joined Place services in July 2019, having previously worked as a Seasonal Ecological Consultant. She has a degree in Environmental Biology.
Melissa has experience in carrying out/and assisting with field surveys for legally protected species (Bats, Great Crested Newts, Reptiles and Hazel Dormouse), Environmental Scoping Surveys, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Non Native Invasive Species (NNIS) surveys.
Melissa has a love of the natural world and enjoys volunteering, having regular involvement in a range of environmental groups including Essex Bat Group & Essex and Suffolk Dormouse Group.
Melissa supports the existing team of ecologists by assisting with project delivery and working as part of the wider Place Services multidisciplinary team.
Key areas of work include the provision of ecological advice to Local Planning Authority officers in relation to planning applications, for Essex County Council and for our District and Borough partners. As well as undertaking field surveys for legally protected species such as Bats, Great Crested Newts, Water Voles, Otters, Badgers and Dormouse.
Melissa is looking forward to developing and expanding her skills whilst delivering a range of client focused ecology and biodiversity services.
