Richard is an archaeologist with 25 years professional experience, including an extensive background in field work and the provision of curatorial advice. He has particular knowledge and experience of large scale excavation and survey techniques, with a special interest in landscape archaeology.
Richard coordinates the delivery of specialist archaeological and historic environment planning advice for Place Services local authority clients, and the strategic development of the Essex Historic Environment Record. He regularly leads on the delivery of projects, including characterisation studies and historic landscape surveys, and has considerable strength as a project manager. Richard has published a number of excavation projects including the extensive archaeological programme undertaken at Stansted Airport between 1986 and 1991.
